A FUND-RAISING band night organised by the Montrose Music Festival realised almost £1,500 for Ninewells Hospital’s haematology unit.

The gig, which was staged in the Caledonia Golf Club, featured local bands F’n’3Gs, KJB and Heidrum, and benefited Ward 34 at the hospital after it was nominated by F’n’3Gs member Graham Aitken.

The band is one of the festival’s most ardent supporters and Graham had to miss out on the 2011 fund-raising concert after being diagnosed with cancer. He received treatment at the haematology unit and was back in the band’s line-up for the November’s event.

The evening raised a total of £1,463 from ticket sales, raffle and a silent auction for a “house gig” by Gary Anderson.
