An Arbroath choir is offering budding singers the opportunity to perform with one of Britain’s greatest sopranos at a special concert.
Arbroath Male Voice Choir is looking to recruit new members in advance of their 80th anniversary concert which will feature the talents of Lesley Garrett CBE.
The concert is taking place in March next year in the Webster Memorial Theatre and regular rehearsals will begin on Monday, August 26, following the choir’s summer break.
Lesley Garrett appeared in concert with the choir to a capacity crowd at the Webster Memorial Theatre in March, 2012, prompting calls for a repeat.
President of Arbroath Male Voice Choir Kenny Southorn is hoping for a reprise of that success.
He said: “This is our 80th year of making music, and Lesley is going to make this celebratory year extra special!
“She is a wonderful entertainer and a true musical ambassador. This is an excellent and very exciting time to join the choir; we’re currently looking for extra tenors and basses to swell the ranks. You’ll be assured of a warm and friendly welcome.”
He continued: “We’re particularly keen to recruit those thirty-somethings looking for a new challenge
“How many times do you get the chance to sing with an international superstar? It’s a once in a lifetime opportunity!”
Anyone interested in joining should come to the first rehearsal at 7.30 p.m., Monday, at Knox’s Church hall, Howard Street. For more information call choir secretary Mr Jay Ferrier on 01241 876428 or visit www.arbroathmalevoicechoir.co.uk
