Businesses in liquidation

THE CHANCE of Coast nightclub and restaurant and the Burns Bar, which closed suddenly on Friday, re-opening this weekend are “highly unlikely” according to a spokesperson for the liquidators, writes Brian Forsyth.

According to reports, Coast in Gravesend was closed on Friday afternoon. And on Monday morning a notice on the door attributed the situation to a gas leak.

It stated: “Due to unforeseen circumstances Coast will be closed until further notice due to a gas leak on the premises.

“Sorry for any inconvenience.”

The notice was not signed and has since been removed.

The business showed no sign of activity this week and the same is true of the Burns Bar in Lordburn where someone has written “RIP” on the chalk menu boards outside the building.

Both businesses were run by the Mitchell brothers, Kent and Nevada, but they were unable to be contacted.

Mr Drew Kennedy, of Morris and Young, Perth, has been appointed interim liquidator and Liz Reilly is the insolvency manager.

Ms Reilly confirmed that there was no gas leak at Coast and that both establishments had ceased trading. She stated that the Perth company had just been appointed as liquidators and it was too early to make a statement.

She suggested that anyone with a claim against Coast or the Burns Bar should contact Morris & Young on 01738 626257.
