An Arbroath butcher is celebrating after being awarded yet another prestigious prize at an industry fair earlier this month.

DH Robertson on Fisheracre, run by Steven and Pamela Bennett, was presented with a diamond award and trophy for best poultry product in Scotland and a silver for their pork and maple sausages at the Scottish Meat Trade Fair at the Dewars Centre in Perth on May 12.

Their delicious chicken fillet stuffed with fluffy couscous and fragrant pine nuts is just one of the many interesting culinary experiments that take place in the shop.

Pamela said: “It’s something we make up in the shop, trying things out on the staff or our regular customers to get a bit of feedback.

“We do that quite a lot, there’s a competition on every so often through the Scottish Meat Federation so it’s nice to have different things out on display for the customers to try.

“The reception has been great. They like to see something different on the shelves and give it a try. Everyone gets fed up with having the same old things all the time.

“You can have it cold for a picnic or try it as part of a Sunday roast or just with fresh vegetables and potatoes through the week. It’s quite versatile.”

The Bennetts have been in their Fisheracre store for six years now and Steven has been a butcher all his working life.

Pamela added: “We are always looking to improve what we can provide for our customers and we would like to thank them for all their support.”
