An investment of over £400,000 has seen an Arbroath optician double in size and take on new staff.

Angus Provost Helen Oswald cut the ribbon on the new-look Specsavers in the Abbeygate shopping centre on Saturday morning which will now be able to handle more eye tests requiring up to six new staff.

The expansion included taking over the vacant unit next to the existing store, increasing the test rooms from three to five which allows for around 200 additional eye exams to be carried out, as well as the creation of a dedicated hearing test room and the enhancement of public areas.

Provost Helen Oswald said: “This expansion of your Arbroath practice is a very welcome investment in the town as well as in your business. It is great to see a vacant unit in the shopping centre being brought back into such productive use.

“The success and resulting growth of the company’s Arbroath venture is a direct reflection of the excellent service and expertise the 35-strong team offers customers.”
