ARBROATH’S newest retailer officially opened this morning (Thursday) on the Westway Retail Park.

DIY chain B&Q opened its doors for the first time and is gearing up for a busy Easter bank holiday weekend.

The new store was officially opened at 10 a.m. by the Depute Provost of Angus, Councillor Peter Murphy, who was joined by store manager Ian Watson and other employees.

To celebrate the opening there will be entertainment in the store all weekend, including a raffle giving lucky customers the opportunity to win gift cards worth £500 to spend in store, children’s entertainment, an Easter egg competition, a DJ and charitable fund-raising.

Store manager Ian Watson said: “This site has served the local community for years, most recently as a Focus DIY, and the B&Q team aim to continue the good work.

“We are really excited about helping people make the best of their homes and in enabling them to feel proud in saying ‘I did that!’

“We are really looking forward to welcoming people into our store this Easter bank holiday weekend for the chance to meet the team, enjoy the celebrations and see our fantastic range of home improvement and gardening products.”
