Authority’s £190,000 website investment

ANGUS Council is to overhaul its two main websites to improve customer service and efficiency.

The corporate services committee agreed at its meeting on Thursday to invest in a revamp of its corporate website and the Angus Ahead portal.

The council will now seek tenders for the work, which is anticipated to cost in the region of £190,000.

Committee convener Councillor Mark Salmond said: “For many years the council has recognised the need to use the internet as a channel for communicating directly with the public and in improving service delivery.

“More than ever, customers expect to be able to use the internet as a means of doing businesses, rather than the more traditional methods of face to face and phone.

“By redeveloping the council website we will be able to better meet this demand for the ‘self service’ approach. In the long term this will achieve better efficiency and savings for the authority and improve customer service.”

He concluded: “This investment will also allow better marketing of the area through the Angus Ahead portal, boosting the local economy and allowing businesses, tourism operators and local organisations to promote themselves and the county to a wider audience.”
