TWO APPRENTICES who are learning their trades with an Arbroath-based training group have scooped the top prizes in a national competition.

Grant Mitchell, of Angus Training Group and GlaxoSmithKline, was named best apprentice at this year’s Apprentice Craft Competition, which sees candidates assessed on skills such as bench fitting and electrical wiring.

The competition took part at Banff and Buchan College and hopes to promote engineering careers in Scotland.

And scooping the runner-up prize was Grant Forsyth, also of Angus Training group and GlaxoSmithKline.
