CARNOUSTIE girl Brooke Ramsay had an extra special birthday surprise this year.
Brooke, who turned eight on Monday, found out on her birthday that she had been given a date for the selective dorsal rhizotomy (SDR) she has been campaigning for since August.
Brooke and her family will now travel down to Frenchay Hospital in Bristol for the SDR procedure on Tuesday, July 10.
She suffers from a form of cerebral palsy which limits her movement and makes her extremely tired and SDR and aftercare physiotherapy are potentially the most effective way of allowing her freedom of movement.
The Brooke’s Dream campaign started by her parents, Laura and Stewart, opened up an NHS treatment pathway for other children with cerebral palsy in Scotland.
Brooke’s fund-raising campaign was so successful that she is now int he process of redistributing some of the money realised.
