TWO ARBROATH men saddled up for a sponsored 180-mile bike ride last month to raise money for Asbestos Action Tayside.
Steven Heenan and his friend Martin Thomson cycled the width of Scotland, setting off on the August 26 from Ardnamurchan, the most westerly point of the country, to the most easterly point of Arbroath.
Covering some tough terrain, the pair took on some of the West Highland Way and the dreaded Devil’s Staircase during their journey.
The charity they chose to support was of personal significance to Mr Heenan, as his father Raymond suffers from Asbestosis, an incurable disease caused by the inhalation of asbestos fibres. Steven feels that the support and help that Asbestos Action Tayside has provided has been invaluable.
They managed to raise over £1,200 for the charity, and said they would like to thank their families, friends and work colleagues for donating towards the good cause.
