One of the groups responsible for staging spectacles in Arbroath is to go out with a bang at a special fireworks display in November.
The directors of Arbroath Events, the group behind such family favourites as the Seafront Spectacular, Medieval Market and Christmas Fayre, will make this year’s fireworks display their swansong.
The grand finale will boast an evening of fireworks, bonfires, music and celebrations.
A spokesperson for Arbroath Events explained the reasons behind their decision.
They said: “We are all getting to the age and stage where eventing is becoming more complex and feel it is now the time to put our feet up and enjoy retirement.
“This event is a thank you to the community of Arbroath for their support of all our events over many years.
“With this in mind we have persuaded and entrusted this last event to be organised by Councillor David Fairweather, who we know will make this into a bumper event for the town.”
Councillor Fairweather had previously indicated his intention to step back from organising big events in favour of other groups, but admitted it was a privilege he could not refuse.
He said: “The directors and volunteers of Arbroath Events have in the past had a tremendous and unrivalled presence in staging many fantastic events for the people of Arbroath and beyond.
“It is a privilege to be asked to this and work has already started that will make this a night to remember and hopefully give Arbroath Events the send-off they deserve.”
We will publish further details as they are made available.
