A PUBLIC talk entitled ‘Bell Rock Calling’ will be presented at Signal Tower Museum, Arbroath, by Mr David Taylor on Tuesday (November 27) starting at 2 p.m.
Mr Taylor spent 50 years working on The Scotsman and although he lives in Edinburgh, he maintains very close links with Arbroath.
His great-great-great-grandfather was the captain of the supply vessel during construction of the Bell Rock Lighthouse. He then became the first master of the tender ‘Smeaton’, responsible for lighthouse supplies and relief.
Mr Taylor currently maintains and updates the bellrock.org.uk website, and his talk will include a fresh look at some aspects of the construction of the lighthouse.
The talk will last about one hour and there will an opportunity to ask questions afterwards. Admission is free but booking is recommended as spaces are limited. To book a seat, contact museum staff on 01241 435329 or at firstname.lastname@example.org.
