AN ARBROATH hairdresser will be letting somebody else do the cutting when she undergoes a drastic makeover for charity on Saturday afternoon.
Bekki Smith-Dutton, who runs the Cloud 9 salon on the West Port is having all of her hair shaved off in aid of Cancer Research UK.
She will be joined by her friends Victoria Heron, Louise Wright and Vicky Urquhart, who are also getting the same style at an event in the Market Arms in Montrose, which starts at 2 p.m.
The pair have a target of £5,000 to raise for the charity and hope as many people as possible will come out to support them.
The event on Saturday will also see a group of men agree to be waxed with wax strips being auctioned off to the highest bidder and then there will be karaoke and entertainment.
Bekki says that Cancer Research UK is a charity close to both her and her friends’ hearts and given her profession, they thought a sponsored head shave was the best way to raise money.
She added: “I have my nervous moments and people say once you have it done you can wear a bandanna or get a nice wig.
“But I’m going to wear it with pride.
“My hair will grow back very soon but for people who are undergoing cancer treatment they have to wait a lot longer.”
Anybody who would like to sponsor the group but can’t make the event can visit their donations page www.justgiving.com/VictoriaHeron.
