THE ABBEY Theatre in Arbroath will be throwing its doors open to the public again this year, giving people the opportunity to see behind the scenes as part of Doors Open Day.
This annual event, which is organised by the Scottish Civic Trust in partnership with Angus Council, is taking place tomorrow (Saturday) and Sunday. It is being held in association with Angus Heritage Week, a celebration of the unique built and cultural heritage of Angus.
Visitors to the Abbey Theatre will enjoy a full backstage tour of the theatre, taking in the dressing rooms, wardrobe department and extensive props store. Their guide will be able to tell them about the history of the theatre club, and the building, and might even be able to share a ghost story or two!
“We really enjoy taking part in Doors Open Day and showing members of the public the amazing building we have here”, said Hilary Tasker, vice-president of the club. “And of course if any visitors want to become involved in the theatre, either back stage or front of house, that is a bonus for us!”
The theatre will be open both tomorrow (Saturday) and Sunday from 12 noon to 4 p.m.
Refreshments will be available.
