A former Arbroath man is set to run from Paris to London in aid of cancer charities in honour of his late mum.
Barry Smale will run six marathons in six days to reach the capital with Macmillan Cancer Support and Ninewells Hospital set to benefit.
He will be joined by fellow Arbroath runners Lorraine Hosie, David Jukes and James Cargill for the run next October.
Barry, a former pupil of Arbroath High School now lives in London with his fiancée, Abbey Craig, who is from Auchmithie.
He said: “I am determined to run this mega marathon in order to raise money for both Macmillan and also my mother’s cancer ward at Ninewells, where she was being treated for bowel and secondary liver cancer.
“Unfortunately my mother, Mary Smale died on the April 15 this year, I’m gutted she will not be coming with us on the support bus from Northern Paris to South London.
“Her untimely death has made me even more focused.”
