AN ARBROATH-based engineering company has recently completed four giant machines for the oil industry.

Axon Well Intervention Products (UK) Ltd., Kirkton Industrial Estate, formerly Mechserv, completed four C18 centrifugal pump units which are considered the new benchmark for rig cooling.

The units were commissioned by Aberdeen-based rig cooling specialists Optima Solutions (UK) Ltd., and will be set to work in the North Sea.

The pump units are the first of their kind manufactured by Axon, and feature 715 h.p. Caterpillar C18 engines which drive a heavy duty centrifugal pump.

Our picture demonstrates the sheer size of the pump unit pictured next to the engineering team who are, from left - Glen Donald, Kenny Dair, project engineer; Daniel Peacock, Neil Black and Nathan Malley.
