Far-from-rubbish Arbirlot photographer Stuart Cant has won second place in the Scottish Nature Photography Awards 2013.
Mr Cant won the award in the Environmental category with his image ‘Falls of Rubbish’ captured at the Arbirlot Waterfall in Angus.
Mr Cant said: “It is an honour to have my photograph selected in the Scottish Nature Photography Awards. I am delighted with recognition from the judges for my image.
“I hope that it will highlight the effect of people on our environment and places of natural beauty and will also act as a reminder to ‘take nothing but photographs and leave nothing but footprints’.”
Judges selected their winners from 2,300 entries to the competition, which this year was extended to eight categories covering different aspects of wildlife, landscape, botanical, abstract and environmental subjects.
The overall winner of Scottish Nature Photographer of the Year 2013 was Donald Cameron, from Perth, with ‘The Boy’ captured at Rattray Head in Aberdeenshire.
An exhibition of the winning images from all the categories will tour Scotland from July 2014 and will also be published in a Portfolio Yearbook. A full list of winners is at www.scottishnaturephotographyawards.com.
