Now that the beautiful summer weather is on the way out and winter is just round the corner the Arbroath Ladies’ Lifeboat Guild are in the thick of it once again.

The main winter fund-raising event will be the Ladies’ Dinner to be held on October 3 in the Meadowbank Inn.

Those of you who have been to one of these ‘infamous’ events before will know what a great night of entertainment awaits.

For those who have not managed to attend a Ladies’ Guild Dinner before then now is the time to put that right!

The evening starts 7 for 7.30 p.m. with a glass of ‘bubbles’ before taking a seat for a two course meal including coffee and mints.

Prices are being held again at the pre-recession price of £35 per head. A programme of light entertainment, including speeches with local banter to you and me, a super raffle and a grand auction is planned with our vice-president Mo Morrison in the chair.

Members of the Arbroath Lifeboat Crew, who are always popular with the audience, will be in attendance to help the organising committee throughout the evening.

As this is usually a sellout event do not be disappointed please order your ticket as soon as possible. Tickets are available from Mo Morrison on 01241 874066.

Just when you thought it was safe here it comes again. The RNLI Christmas Card Weekend Sale is in the diary for the weekend of October 17-19.

The RNLI Shop at the Harbour has been newly stocked for all the things that you really need to make your Christmas shopping really special.

Lots of cards, calendars and novelty stocking fillers to keep the family happy and little ones quiet for a minute or two. The shop is open daily during this time from 10 a.m. - 4 p.m. on the Friday and Saturday and 12 - 4 p.m. on Sunday.

Before all of the above the RNLI Lifeboat Shed will be open for business during the Annual Doors Open Event this weekend from 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. tomorrow (Saturday) and Sunday.

The crew will be on hand to welcome everyone to the station and explain what being a member of the Arbroath Lifeboat Crew is all about.

The stars of the show will be the Inchcape Lifeboat and of course the new inshore boat the Robert Fergusson.

For those of you who did not manage to get up close during the Sea Fest this is your next best opportunity to see the boats and speak to the crew.

Members of the Ladies’ Guild will be present throughout the weekend supplying copious amounts of tea, coffee and biscuits.

Donations will be gratefully accepted.
