A CHARITY auction in Arbroath’s Royal British Legion Scotland on Sunday raised around £1,000 for local charities.
Organised by local councillor David Fairweather, the auction saw people in the town donate various items to be auctioned off.
These included bottles of alcohol, toys, paintings and even sacks of potatoes and the money raised will go to the Royal Marines Association, the Town Mission, the local RNLI and the Arbroath Skate Park Project.
Councillor Fairweather said: “We raised approximately £1,000 which was very good.
“I have to thank the auctioneer Bill McMillan who made it an enjoyable day and Arbroath Citizen of the Year Annie Ogilvy who served soup and a roll for £2 and donated the proceeds to the charities too.”
