Attempted robbery of Arbroath taxi

Police are searching for a man who assaulted and attempted to rob a taxi driver in Arbroath on Sunday night.

The 61-year-old victim was within his black Ford Mondeo taxi at around 10.20pm in Warddykes Avenue, when the man entered the taxi and demanded money.

The taxi driver sustained an injury to his hand during the incident.

The man responsible is described as being between 20 and 30-years-old, wearing a dark coloured top or jacket and was last seen in Warddykes Avenue.

Anyone with information that could assist officers with their enquiries into the incident is urged to contact Police Scotland on 101. Alternatively information can be passed anonymously to the charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
