The art gallery in The Pavilion @ Stracathro cafe in the grounds of Stracathro Hospital is hosting a new art exhibition.

A range of paintings and etchings by former art teacher Angela Hamper is on display during September and October.

Her works are created using traditional techniques in colour and black and white and colour.

Speaking about her work, Angela said: “I work at home surrounded by the wonderful countryside views of Angus. The Scottish landscape, animals and seascapes are the main focus of my work.

“If I can achieve a feeling of movement, drama and life in what I do, then the happiness of the moment is present in the painting.”

Angela is a member of Angus Open Studios and the Dundee Contemporary Arts Print Studio and exhibits her oil paintings and etchings locally throughout the year.

The exhibitions at the cafe are changed approximately every eight weeks and local artists are invited to display their work.

The cafe is open Monday to Friday from 8am until 4pm.

The majority of the art on display at the gallery is for sale, with each participating artist donating 20 per cent commission of sales to Stracathro Hospital.

All money raised is used to enhance the Stracathro Hospital environment for patients and visitors.
