ARBROATH youngster Arran Lyall was one of three young Scottish Manchester United fans who were invited to meet footballing legend Sir Alex Ferguson at Stirling University last week.
Sir Alex, who has run the Premier League club since 1986 and also led the Scottish national side at the 1986 World Cup finals, received the award of Doctor of the University for his contribution to sport.
Ten-year-old Arran, who plays football for the Lads’ Club, attended the graduation ceremony before having his photo taken with Sir Alex and two other lucky youngsters.
All three were selected because they were Manchester United fans, and had a link with Stirling University.
Arran told the Arbroath Herald that Sir Alex was “really friendly” and happily autographed his Manchester United strip and poster.
