Linda Hunter beat off stiff competition to win the Angus heat of the Fairtrade Bake Off on September 13.

The announcement was made at the meeting of the Arbroath Fairtrade Action Group on September 16 in St Andrew’s Church hall.

Mrs Reid chaired the meeting. She welcomed Noela Watson to the committee.

An Arbroath Bake-Off was held in August and Linda Hunter won the heat. The group are therefore delighted that she has won the Angus title.

This was great news for Arbroath and the group want to say a big thank you to Linda on her great achievement.

During the summer the group had Fairtrade stalls at Dundee & Angus College and St John’s Church. It was good news to hear that Knox’s Church has gained Fairtrade status.

Winners from local heats from each of the Fairtrade Forums in the county – Montrose, Forfar, Carnoustie, Brechin, Arbroath and Kirriemuir - competed to take the overall Angus title. Contestants were challenged to find the most delicious way of incorporating Fairtrade and local produce into a tasty teatime treat.
