Arbroath United looking to build on weekend success

ARBROATH United captain Fraser Burnett is looking to build on the team’s success at the weekend.

The Lochlands men notched up a league win against Aberdeenshire and progressed into the semi-finals of the CS Trophy after beating Falkland by 118 runs.

Fraser said: “Our chances are quite good. We have been quietly plugging away. It’s not quite the Scottish Cup but it’s a shield.

“At the end of the day it’s still some silverware for the club to win. Hopefully we can get another trophy for the cabinet.

“It was really good to get two comfortable wins like that, it gives us a good foundation for the rest of the season.”

The captain is hoping to use this as a springboard for this weekend when they face last season’s league winners Carlton at home.

Fraser believes his team is well placed to win tomorrow (Saturday).

He said: “Definitely we can win this. They’re in the same situation as ourselves. They have only won once as well. It’s really tight at the bottom of the league.

“Us and Carlton were the two favourites for winning the league so this just goes to show how hard the league is.”
