TAYSIDE Police recognised exceptional service from officers and civilian associates in a ceremony last Tuesday night.
The Eastern Division Excellence Awards, held at the Eastern Division headquarters in Forfar, acknowledged the contributions of three Arbroath men.
Among them were PC Jon Neate and DC Keir Smith, who had spent three months investigating house breakings and crimes of dishonesty in Arbroath.
They reported eight individuals to the procurator fiscal and detected a total of 27 crimes allowing them to return a number of recovered items.
They were described as having made a positive impact on public safety through their work, and had contributed greatly towards detection and crime reduction rates in the division.
Organiser of the Hedzup Racing Project, Ian Pert was commended for his work in teaching local children about respect, loyalty and responsibility by running their own motorcycle team.
His citation explained that not only do the children learn valuable and certificated practical skills, but they also plan to take part in three races in the Manx grand prix this year.
Presenting the awards were Tayside joint police and fire board convener Councillor Ian Mackintosh and Assistant Chief Constable Angela Wilson.
