Both Arbroath lifeboats were launched yesterday evening (Wednesday, June 8) to assist in the evacuation of an ill fishing boat crewman.

A request for lifeboat assistance was received from HM Coastguard at 8.50pm and both the inshore and all-weather lifeboats were quickly launched to assist the fishing boat which was located close to the Bell Rock lighthouse.

Once on scene, the RNLI volunteers transferred the casualty from the fishing boat to the all-weather lifeboat, Inchcape, and he was brought back to Arbroath harbour before being transferred into the care of waiting ambulance crew.
