St Andrew’s Church is continuing efforts to keep the people of Malawi in the hearts and minds of those in Arbroath by combining dancing and footballers!

Teaming up with Arbroath Football Club the church has organised a dinner/dance at the Meadowbank Inn on April 18.

The stars of the team will all be there with their families, hoping to encourage the people of Arbroath to help with desperate situation in Malawi.

Malawi was hit by Cyclone Bansi recently leaving hundreds dead, more than 200,000 people displaced and many losing their livelihoods. The situation is expected to worsen with the impending cholera epidemic and a predicted famine.

Tickets will be on sale shortly and can be bought from Gayfield or directly from the Malawi project co-ordinator, Sheila Dunphy, 01241 873218 or 07752467654.

Becky Dunphy, who is involved in the project and is physiotherapist at AFC, said: “We would like to take the opportunity to thank the people of Angus for their support of the project through the giving of items for our container, and also implore them to get behind this very needy cause.”
