ARBROATH couple Adam and Charlotte Shepherd, 25 Union Street East, celebrated their diamond wedding anniversary on Thursday (January 27) surrounded by family and friends.

The happy couple met at a fisherman’s dance at the Templars Dance Hall in 1949 when Adam worked as a fish merchant and Charlotte was employed at the local Clydesdale bank.

They married at the Erskine Church in 1951 and went on to have two children - Neil and Linda.

Adam and Charlotte say they have had “a busy life together” and Adam is still well-known throughout the community after he operated his own fishing business for many years. Charlotte ran casinos in Perth and Arbroath before she retired.

The couple have four grandchildren, Chris, Audrey, Laura and Lauren.

To celebrate the happy occasion the family went out for lunch to Sugar and Spice in Arbroath before having a get-together later on in the afternoon.

Adam and Charlotte are pictured with Angus Provost Ruth Leslie Melville and Depute Lieutenant of Angus Ian Stirling who arrived to give the couple their warm congratulations.
