An Arbroath football team has had a tremendous season after winning promotion and becoming the first club in the town to lift a prestigious trophy.

Following a fantastic season amateur side Arbroath Community Sports Club have moved up from the Midlands Association Division 1 to the Premiere League.

They will now face amateur league giants such as Bank Street Athletic and St James.

To top this off they recently carried off the North of Tay District Trophy after beating Riverside Athletic 1-0 at Dens Park.

The two teams have been close rivals this season. In fact Arbroath CSC finished the season just a single point ahead of the Dundee side to secure the promotion spot for themselves.

Last season Arbroath CSC won an impressive 19 games, drew four and lost only once. Their unbeaten streak came to an end against Dundee City in their final competitive league game having already accepted the division shield for the top spot.

A spokesperson for Arbroath CSC said: “We also competed in three further cup finals during the season, unfortunately we were unable to collect these trophies, but to reach every domestic cup final in the same season is some achievement in itself.

“The players, management and coaching staff would like to thank their supporters and sponsors for all their efforts and help throughout the season.

“The club is now looking to strengthen the team further for the coming season as we look to push on and establish ourselves in the Premier League.”

The club is now looking for players for both first and second teams for the coming season and there is also a vacancy for a second team manager.
