Angus park hit by mindless vandals

Local outrage was aimed at joyriders who wreaked havoc at Arbroath’s Victoria Park on Tuesday.

The popular grassy area for walking, sports and local events was torn up by a shambles of tyre tracks.

“The mindless vandalism of the young motorists in Arbroath can be seen in these pictures,” said Arbroath man Ralph Coutts. “If it’s not cars speeding it is litter being thrown out their windows.”

A spokeswoman for Angus Council said: “Although on this occasion damage to the grass was superficial, in less favourable conditions the damage can be extensive.

“If a driver were to lose control there is a serious risk of injury and we would ask anyone witnessing such anti-social behaviour to contact the police on 101.”
