The county of Angus has the third highest rate of card carrying organ donors in Scotland, according to official figures.
A staggering 56,629 citizens are now signed-up to the NHS Organ Donor Register equating to just over 48 per cent of the county’s population.
Edinburgh tops the table with just over 54 per cent of the population on the register.
Graeme Dey, MSP for Angus South, praised the findings saying: “Scotland is famed for its humanity and the people of Angus are certainly demonstrating that point with these latest figures.
“Joining the Organ Donor Register is a tremendous act of kindness and can mean the difference between life and death for the recipient. Lives are transformed by organ transplants and we must ensure that those who want to be part of the register have all the information to easily do so.”
