A public appeal has been made to identify the location of a farmhouse depicted in a painting of what was thought to be 1970s Lunan.
The oil painting by R.J. ‘Dick’ Godden is entitled ‘Somewhere Near Montrose’ and was recently mentioned in the columns of the Montrose Review’s ‘Gable Ender feature and initial responses suggested it showed Lunan Farm.
According to Forbes Inglis, who writes the column, the current owner of Lunan Farm, Hew Blair-Imrie has cast doubt on this, and now Mr Inglis is keen to trace the real site.
He said: “The painting, thought to have been painted in the 1970s, was donated by the artist’s family to Christian Aid who contacted me to see if any reader could identify the location.
“It had been suggested that the subject was Lunan Farm but doubt has been expressed about that idea. If any reader can identify the scene please get in touch.”
