A SECTION of the A92 will be closed briefly over the festive period while rail bridge repairs are carried out.
Network Rail engineers will close the A92 at Elliot Water, on the Arbroath side of the roundabout while they carry out a £1 million project to replace the railway bridge over the waterway.
The road will close tomorrow (Saturday) from 7 a.m. until 7 a.m. on December 27 as engineers remove the old metal bridge and use a crane to install a more modern structure.
A diversionary route will be in use utilising part of the old A92. A Network Rail spokesman said: “The work we are undertaking is vital to the long-term reliability of the railway, but it cannot be delivered without some disruption to road users. We regret the unavoidable inconvenience the work will cause, and are committed to completing the project as quickly as possible.”
