Brave and slightly bonkers Red Lichtie Ashleigh Easson is shaving her head to raise money in memory of her mother.

She said: “My mother, Joan Caple, died from breast cancer when I was three and she was only 29.

“Technology wasn’t as good then but it still needs to get better so other children don’t have to grow up without their mums.

“The idea just popped into my head, now that I’m 29 I thought would be a great way to raise money in her memory and for Breakthrough Breast Cancer.”

Married to Grant Easson, the couple have three children; Jake, seven, Alyssa, four and Ethan who is nearly two.

Mr Easson continued: “My friends and family are 100 per cent behind me. My husband Grant took a bit of convincing but he’s supporting me completely, as is my eldest Jake, who thinks it’s a great idea.

“My dad and step-mum gave me £50 straight away but I think they just want to know what I look like with a shaved head. My mother-in-law has also offered to knit me a hat.”

Mrs Easson’s aunt, Sandra Heeney has also shown her support. She added: “Sandra was my mum’s sister. When I mentioned what I was doing she got on board straight away and now we’re doing it together.”

Mrs Heeney is raising money for Macmillan Cancer and has also roped in her hairdresser to help with the big chop, The final shave will take place on June 7 with the location to be confirmed giving them plenty of time to raise cash.

Mrs Easson said: “I am also hoping it will be a bit warmer.”
