CATH and Syd Tunstall, 65 Montrose Road, celebrated their diamond wedding anniversary on Tuesday.
They were married at St Thomas Church on October 7, 1948 by Father Cunningham, who was the naval chaplain to HMS Condor, where Mr Tunstall was stationed as a member of the Fleet Air Arm.

The couple met at a dance at the Marine Ballroom.

Mrs Tun
stall, nee Smith, was born in Arbroath and attended Ladyloan and Keptie Schools. She had a number of jobs, including an insurance agent and working at Peppo's, before spending the last nine years prior to retiring as an Arbroath Herald telephonist.

Her hobbies have included badminton and line dancing.

Mr Tunstall is a native of Plymouth and spent 25 years in the Royal Navy, retiring as a Chief Petty Officer. His naval career included involvement during the Suez Crisis.

He joined Giddings & Lewis-Fraser when he was demobilised and remained there until he retired.

In his naval days he was an accomplished all-round athlete, and he is still also involved in line-dancing. He played football for Friock Thistle, and has a great interest in stamp-collecting.
Mr and Mrs Tunstall have four married sons: Allan and Fiona, Glasgow; Colin and Lillian, Warrington; Fraser and Sandra, Arbroath; and Jamie and Angelica, Barry, Wales.

There are seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
