Sylvester and Tweety Pie are lovable cartoon characters from the Warner Brothers stable.
But this incarnation is more rough and ready.

Sylvester is a 14 metre long flat-bottomed work barge which is on the slipway at Mackay Boatbuilders (Arbroath) Ltd., having remedial work done.

She was recently acquired by Offshore Workboats Ltd., and was sailed to Arbroath from Burntisland.

Mackays have powerwashed the hull and are undertaking steelwork repairs before repainting the vessel.

The company undertakes general quayside maintenance and, in the words of operations director Keith Russell, the Sylvester will be used for any work that cannot be done from the shore.

He already had contracts in Orkney and Fraserburgh and is actively looking for further work on the east coast.

Keith has a strong local connection as his father was a Royal Marine at Condor and he formerly lived in Carnoustie.
