A READER who lives in Ponderlaw Street contacted the Herald earlier this week to say that for the third time in three years the garden wall opposite Barber's Croft had been demolished by a car.
He expressed concern that it was happening so often, and wondered if there was something that could be done about placing a crash barrier to protect pedestrians.

The gentleman added that so far no pedestrian has been hurt, but that if such events were going to continue, it seemed inevitable that there would be a serious injury.

He concluded: "I'm not so worried about the wall - that can be repaired.
"But if somebody gets hit by a car, so near the entrance to Springfield Park, it could be a death."

We put the point about a safety barrier to Angus Council, and a spokeswoman said that engineers from the council's road department will visit the problem area and investigate the situation.
