A READER with a three-year-old child has told our reporters of a serious danger to youngsters in the Bruce Road/Brechin Road area of Arbroath.
She says that as the leaves on a hedge at the corner are withering, a number of hypodermic needles - four so far - have been revealed among the branches.

It seems clear that these have been pushed into the hedge by drug addicts.

She contacted Angus Council and they have been quick to remove needles, but she fears that more may emerge, and says they are right at the eye level of children, many of whom walk to school along that route.

She appeals to people not to shove used needles in hedges, and also to parents to be alert to dangers that might not be immediately obvious.

Anyone spotting a used needle should call Angus Council's AccessLine, 01241 434212, and arrangements will be made to have it picked up as quickly as possible.
