A WEEKEND clampdown on under-age drinkers in Arbroath by Tayside Police led to a 10 youths receiving warnings and over 40 litres of alcohol being recovered.
And an 18-year-old male was charged after being caught supplying two under-age drinkers with alcohol.

Weekend operations centred on the Mayfield shops and nearby park area, the centre of the town including Millgate, the Rose Gardens at Springfield
Park, the Water Tower and Harbour.

Inspector Callum Leith called the 40-plus litres of alcohol "a good return" and added that the haul had included lager, strong cider and vodka.

He explained: "On Friday night eight youths were taken to Arbroath police office where they were warned by myself regarding their behaviour in the presence of their parents.

"The reactions from parents ranged from disappointment to anger, but all acknowledged the police in bringing their attention to the problem."

The Task Force was again on patrol on Saturday evening when an 18-year-old male was charged with supply of alcohol to two under-age drinkers.
Inspector Leith added: "Two youths were also warned at the station and their parents were summoned."

The message from the police is clear. "Parents should take responsibility for the actions of their children and know exactly what they are doing on Friday and Saturday nights." said Inspector Leith.

Later on Saturday evening, officers teamed up with representatives of the Security Industry Authority (SIA) who visited pubs and clubs in Arbroath.

The visits resulted in four offenses being recorded. These included non-licensed doormen and stewards failing to display licenses.
These infractions will now be followed up by SIA representatives.
