CARNOUSTIE couple Alistair and Helen Wylie are winners of Angus Community Mediation's 'Good Neighbour' award for Angus.
The neighbour dispute resolution service received nominations at an information stand run by the service at the Abbeygate Centre, Arbroath, during Scottish Mediation Week in November.

And the Wylies were selected by the service's Advisory Group f
rom among several good neighbours put forward for the award. They were presented with a Christmas hamper supplied by Smithies Delicatessen, Arbroath.

Neighbour Mrs Elizabeth Ferris, who nominated the couple, describes them as "excellent neighbours". Examples of the many good deeds the Wylies have done include regularly watering her vegetables and sorting out her mail when she is away, having a meal waiting for her return on occasions and doing electrical work in the house.

Mediation service team leader Bob Ballantine commented: "We are delighted to be able to present this prize to Helen and Alistair. They are to be commended for all the help they have given their neighbours and have set an excellent example for us all.

"This was not an easy decision to make, as we have been made aware of other examples of people going out of their way to help their neighbours in various ways. We are writing to the others who were nominated, congratulating them on their kindness."
At the presentation in Smithies on Tuesday are, from left - Elizabeth Ferris, nominator; Patti Smith, Bob Ballantine, team leader, Angus Community Mediation; Mrs Wylie, Mr Wylie, Tracy Watson and Jill Smith.
