It has been alleged that young teenagers congregate and indulge in anti-social behaviour.

Examples given have ranged from swearing at passers-by to fire-raising.

A front door was set alight. It is also claimed some youngsters jump out in front of cars.

Seagulls are targeted by the youngsters. It is alleged that they throw stones at them on roofs and, if there are no seagulls within firing range, they tryst the birds to the ground with crisps and then throw bricks at them.

We are told that after the first article appeared there was an improvement, with increased police patrols and attention by community wardens.

But the improvement has vanished.

Our reader is perplexed by the fact that the miscreants often chat cheerfully to police patrols, even waving to them as they go - before returning to their old ways. It is felt that the authorities should move them on from where they are congregating.

The reader is convinced that CCTV in the area would be a major step in the right direction, because the street would always be monitored.

A spokesman for Tayside Police said: "Police in Arbroath are aware of the concerns of residents in Townhead Road regarding noise nuisance and acts of antisocial behaviour perpetuated by others visiting and living in the area.

"Priority has been given to this area with local officers and Angus Council Community Safety Wardens and the Night Time Noise Team all taking positive steps to alleviate problems with persons recently arrested for breach of the peace and fixed penalty notices issued for noise nuisance where equipment was seized.
