YOUNGSTERS who attend Angus Special Playscheme in Arbroath will soon be making a splash, thanks to the Changing Lives Campaign.

The scheme secured a £400 donation from the McIntosh campaign to replace existing water and sand play resources.

Playscheme manager, Karen Kedward, explained the popular events are held in Arbroath, Montrose and in Forfar several times a year.

The schemes are aimed at children with special support needs, whether physical or mental, and also cater for youngsters with Down's syndrome and cerebral palsy.

Karen added: "We will buy four large tubs that can hold water, sand or even gunge, with which the kids can play.

"They get please from sensory activities like that, which can be therapeutic from a mobility perspective and also encourage the children to socialise."

The scheme, which began in 1990, strikes the perfect balance as youngsters have a ball while their parents have a period of respite.
Sales director of McIntosh, Ian Clarke, commented: "We fully support the work of the Playscheme and are delighted to have been able to help in some way."

Karen Kedward (left) and board member Lesley Fairweather celebrate the good news.
