ANGUS MP Mike Weir is delighted that local organisations and projects were successful in their applications for grants from the Scottish Government from the latest round of CashBack for Communities Youthlink funding.
A total of £22,501 has been awarded in Angus from money recovered from the proceeds of crime.

And the CAFE Project in Arbroath is to receive a share.

The Cashback for Communities Youthlink fund was set up to support diversionary activities and engage young people in order to keep them away from anti-social behaviour or crime.

Mr Weir said: "I am delighted groups in Angus have been awarded a share of the £1 million which as been recovered from the proceeds of crime.

"The CAFE Project in Arbroath, for instance, was the first youth project in the UK to introduce street football and the award of over £2,000 will help with continuation of Street Games for All.

"This is welcome Christmas cheer and I congratulate them on their success."
