ANGUS Care and Repair has secured funding from the Electrical Safety Council to hold an all-Angus event in the Carnoustie Golf Hotel on Tuesday, December 8, which will be opened by the Depute Provost of Angus, Peter Murphy.
The seminar will highlight electrical and home safety for the over 60-year-olds and disabled people in Angus, primarily owner-occupiers and private tenants.

The aim is to increase the awareness of electrical and other hazards in the home and to re
duce the number of accidents that take place to help people remain safe in their own home. The event is a collaborative venture between Angus Council Social Work and Health, Tayside NHS, Angus Council Trading Standards, Tayside Fire and Rescue and Angus Care and Repair.

There will be a selection of workshops to provide advice and good practice on home safety, community alarm equipment, fire safety, doorstoppers/safe as houses, exercise to reduce falls in the home, and medicine safety.

Commencing at 9.30 a.m. with tea and coffee at registration, the programme will finish at 3.45 p.m. A two-course lunch will be served. There is no charge for the day to participants.

Buses can collect people from Kirriemuir, Forfar, Brechin and Monifieth prior to the event and return afterwards. Each will take 15 people and will collect from a central point to be arranged

A further 40-seater bus has been arranged to leave from Montrose, pick up in Arbroath and return later. Places on the buses will be allocated on a first come first booked basis. Unfortunately there is no wheelchair facility on the buses.

There will be a raffle at the end of items which have been very kindly donated. The prizes will be distributed by drawing a delegate number which will be allocated at registration and they include electric blankets, circuit breakers, a digital radio, a meal for two at the Hotel and many others. Thanks have been extended to the Electrical Safety Council, Carnoustie Golf Hotel, Colin Smith, Hydro Electric, Tesco, Boots, Peco and Focus who have donated to date.

If you wish to attend please call Kath or Helen at Angus Care and Repair on 01307 463232 as soon as possible. And remember to mention if you wish a seat in the bus.
