£6,000 of damage caused by ‘suspicious’ garage fire

TAYSIDE Police have appealed for witnesses following a fire at a car garage in Millgate Loan, Arbroath, in the early hours of this morning (Saturday).

Approximately £6,000 of damage was caused by the incident which occurred at the rear of the premises at about 3.40 a.m.

Tayside Fire and Rescue attended the scene and safely extinguished the fire. No one was endangered or injured during the incident. Tayside Fire and Rescue have, at this early stage, been unable to identify a cause for the fire and as such, until the ignition source can be confirmed, the fire will treated as suspicious.

The council-owned garage is currently deemed unsafe until it can be checked by council buildings inspection officers.

Two males were seen in the area shortly before the incident and they may have valuable information that could help the Police make enquiry.
