£5K target passed for Grant

The fund set up to send brain tumour sufferer Grant Callachan and his family on a final holiday together has passed its initial £5000 target.

As reported in last week’s Herald, Grant’s former colleague, Laura Ramsay, and friend Karen Stranock, set up a Fundraiser for Grant Facebook page, as well as a GoFundMe link.

Laura explained: “Life can be so unfair! Grant and his partner, Michelle, have decided to get married and the aim of our fundraising is to be able to give them some money to have a small honeymoon, and make special memories.

“The whole of Arbroath is right behind us, and tickets for our evening of mediumship (Sunday, August 23, at the Cliffburn Hotel) completely sold out in five days, even after printing 10 extra tickets!

“There are more events that other people are organising.

“We’d like to thank local businesses for their support, as well as everyone who has provided the fantastic raffle prizes.”

Grant himself had this to say: “I must be a very lucky person because a lot of people want to help me.”

Grant has been “overwhelmed” by the support he has received, saying: “I’d like to thank everybody that’s helped me.

“The support I’ve had has been unbelievable. Every time I think about it, it’s almost too much.”

At 10am today (Monday) the GoFundMe page total was standing at £5010 and Grant said: “I’ve increased the cap to £15k as I worried about donations not being accepted. Thanks again everyone.”
