£18,000 raised by Minstrels’ show

ANGUS Minstrels held their 51st annual general meeting on Thursday evening in the Methodist Church hall.

It was well attended by members of the company, who were welcomed by Ian Cargill, chairperson. He introduced the treasurer, Garry Mitchell, who gave a detailed account of the receipts and payments for the 2011 show and announced that the profit from the show was £18,000.

The committee had agreed that the donations this year would go to the following: Brooke’s Dream, £500; Erskine House, £1,000; Angus Special Playscheme, £1,000; RNLI Arbroath branch, £1,000; Chernobyl Children’s Life Line, £1,000; Friends of Guiding, £1,500; Arbroath Town Mission, £2,000; and CHAS; £10,000.

It was announced that this year’s show will be staged in The Webster Memorial Theatre from Thursday until Saturday, November 1 to 10, except Sunday, November 4.

Once again The Minstrel production team will be producer and choreographer, Edwina Barraclough; assistant producer, James Hutcheson; and musical director, Paul Clancy.

Ticket prices have been held at £11 for all areas. Block bookings are now being accepted by Miss Joan Mitchell, 10 Seaton Road, Arbroath. Public booking will be from Tuesday, August 21, at The Webster Memorial Theatre box office during their normal hours or by ‘phoning 01241 435800 after that date.

The committee for 2012/13 is as follows: director, Joan Mitchell, Ian Cargill, Eileen Craig, Evelyn Fordyce, James Hutcheson, Shona Kemp, Garry Mitchell, Robert Seaton, Jamie Watson and Ron Watson.
