1000 Heartbeats help Arbroath man make full recovery

Local man Barrie Christine is to appear on ITV daytime quiz show 1000 Heartbeats, presented by Vernon Kay, airing on Friday (January 15) at 3pm.

Having fallen ill with meningitis in January 2015, Barrie had to take time off work and doing nothing for months really began to take its toll. In an effort to lift his spirits, Barrie’s wife JJ Christine (director of Dancemania Studio) decided to enter him for the ITV show. In the exciting new show, contestants answer questions and accumulate as much of the £25,000 big cash jackpot as their 1000 heartbeats will allow. As they play each round, their heart rate is measured: every single beat of their heart makes one of their 1000 heartbeats disappear.

In July, a fully-recovered Barrie received an email asking him to attend an audition in Edinburgh. The couple went down and made a day of it, and after the audition Barrie was back to his normal self. Then, in September, he received a congratulatory email, saying he would need to travel to London for filming.

Barrie made the journey and was recorded in the studio. Tune in to see how Barrie got on.
