Angus residents are invited to take part in a special event in Kirriemuir Town Hall tomorrow (Thursday).

Lesley Riddoch, writer, broadcaster and campaigner, will be a keynote speaker at ‘Local democracy – what does a modern Scotland deserve?’

Hosted by the local branch of the SNP, the event is open to all to encourage discussion, debate and the generation of fresh ideas across the community.

The full list of speakers is as follows: Lesley Riddoch, broadcaster, writer and campaigner; Graeme Dey MSP, Angus South; Mairi Evans MSP, Angus North and Mearns; Councillor Vivien Dance, Argyll & Bute; Willie Sullivan, Electoral Reform Society Scotland and Gary Malone, Chief Executive of Voluntary Action Angus.

Julie Bell, who is chairing the event and is the convener of the Kirriemuir and Dean branch of the SNP. said: “I’m hoping this event acts like a pebble dropped into a pond or a river,

“Think of the ideas we generate as ripples spreading out – let’s get creative, listen to each other and help shape something fit for purpose for future generations.”
