This week’s photograph from the archives was taken in October 1959 at HMS Condor as it was then known.

It shows men from 2nd Company, 15th Scottish Battalion of the Parachute Regiment (Territorial Army) who had been taking part in Exercise Clean Sweep. They are pictured standing at attention beside their Blackburn Beverley aircraft which saw service with the RAF Transport Command from the mid-1950s until its retirement in 1967. It could carry 80 soldiers or 70 paratroopers.
